Munshi One ("we," "us," or "our") built the Munshi One app as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Munshi at no cost and is intended for use as is.
1. Data Storage & Google Drive Sync
By default, all data you enter into the app remains strictly on your mobile device. However, if you choose to enable the Google Cloud Sync feature:
- The app will request access to your Google Drive App Data folder (
drive.appdata scope).
- This is a restricted, hidden folder used exclusively for storing and retrieving encrypted backups of your shop data (Products, Bills, Udhaar).
- Privacy & Security: All data is encrypted locally on your device using AES-256-GCM before being uploaded. This means Google, Munshi One, or any third party cannot read your data.
2. Offline-First Approach
The app is designed to work entirely offline. We do not have a private cloud backend or server. Your data only leaves your device if you:
- Enable Google Cloud Sync (as described above).
- Manually share a PDF bill or report via third-party apps of your choice (like WhatsApp or Email).
3. Permissions Usage
- Camera: Used solely for scanning barcodes and taking photos of products for your inventory.
- Contacts: Used only if you choose to "Pick Contact" to quickly fill in supplier or customer details. We do not upload your contacts to any server.
- Storage: Used to save PDF bills and product images locally on your device.
- Google Account: Used only for authentication if you enable the Google Drive sync feature.
4. Data Deletion (Right to be Forgotten)
You have full control over your data:
- Local Data: You can delete all data by clearing the app cache or uninstalling the app.
- Cloud Data: If sync is enabled, you can delete your cloud backup directly from the app's sync settings or by revoking the app's access in your Google Account security settings.
5. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services for specific features:
- Google Drive API: Used exclusively for the optional sync and backup feature.
Aside from this, the app does not use any analytics, ads, or tracking services.
6. Security
We value your trust in providing us with your business information. Since all data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on your device's security. We recommend using the built-in PIN/Fingerprint lock feature provided within the app.
